Heaven

Heaven

You die in a plane crash and find yourself in front of two identical doors. One door leads to heaven and the other to hell. There are two identical angels at each door. One angel always tells the truth, while the other always lies. Only the angels themselves know who is lying and who is not. You can only ask one question to one of the angels. What is the only question that will get you to heaven?

Ask either angel: “Would the other angel say that this door leads to heaven?”

  • If you ask the truth-telling angel, they will truthfully report that the lying angel would incorrectly say the door leads to heaven.
  • If you ask the lying angel, they will falsely report that the truth-telling angel would incorrectly say the door leads to heaven.

In both cases, you will receive a “No” if the door actually leads to heaven. If the answer is “No,” enter that door. If the answer is “Yes,” then the door leads to hell, and you should choose the other door.
